National Day
National Day this year celebrated the 48th year of the United Arab Emirates and we, at NLCS, explored the amazing food, traditions, history and costume of the wonderful country that we now all call home.
Outside, students and teachers were met with a collection of falcons, all of whom were happy to take part in photo shoots and sit patiently in Budge Square. It was lovely to see one of our own Emirati students from Grade 8 bring in his own falcon this year.....Read more.

The Chevron Readers’ Cup
The English Department at NLCS Dubai is a great supporter of the Emirates Literature Festival; every year the festival brings authors from around the world to Dubai and celebrates the wonderful world of reading. Since opening, we have hosted the first round of the Chevron Readers’ Cup at our school, welcoming hundreds of keen readers from schools all across Dubai to test our their knowledge of some of the books from this year’s festival’s authors. This year was another success and we were proud to field four teams of our own, answering questions on books such as ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class’, by Onjali Q.Rauf, a heartfelt and moving book aimed for ages 9 to 12, and ‘Our Castle by the Sea’ by Lucy Strange. This book is highly recommended for 11 to 14 year olds.
Reading is central to students’ success at school and it is vital that all students are reading every day, so if you haven’t read either of these books, then perhaps they can feature on a holiday reading list.

House Competition
As per usual, a new academic year at NLCS Dubai means an expansion of the School as we welcome many new students into our learning community. One of the ways in which we ensure they feel part of NLCS Dubai as quickly as possible is via the House system. In the Senior School, we added an additional form to each House this year meaning many existing students moved within their Houses but more importantly, we were able to place our new North Londoners into forms where they could assimilate and form relationships.....Read More.

First School
A highlight this term has been First School’s Winter production, Santa’s on Strike! They put on a spectacular performance, leaving us in awe of just how confident they are on stage. This show not only provided the children with an opportunity to develop their drama, dance and singing skills, but introduce them to the Arts in the hope that it sparks an interest in this area of school life. We clearly have some very talented singers, actors and actresses amongst the First School.....Read more.

There have been so many particular achievements this term. The ‘Peace Child’ production, in which G2 and G3 took to the stage, saw them deliver the story with confidence and humour.
