As students progress through the Lower School, they continue to be taught primarily by their class teacher, who combines individual pastoral care with teaching and learning, thus holding a complete picture of the whole child. Teaching assistants support across the grade-levels in Lower School.
During their Lower School career, the students are introduced to other languages. Arabic, French, Spanish, German and Mandarin are the languages currently on offer. We are particularly committed to our provision of the Arabic language and by the end of Lower School students will have learned the alphabet, become proficient in joining letters into words, developed a broad-ranging vocabulary, and studied topics such as numbers, days of the week, animals, colours and directions.
Students in the Lower School have approximately thirty minutes of homework in an evening and this rises to approximately forty minutes at the top of the Junior School. It is the School’s policy not to set homework over the holidays.
