Living in Dubai

HomeLiving in Dubai

For teachers seeking to work outside of their home country for the first time, or for seasoned travelers who have worked all around the world, Dubai is an exciting place to teach. With over 90% of the population consisting of expatriates from more than 100 countries, Dubai is a truly global city that balances ambitious, progressive development with its traditional Islamic and Arab heritage.

Dubai is an easy city to adapt to living in. This is because of its well-developed infrastructure, excellent transport network, and the wide range of international brands that can be found in the city’s malls, bringing the comforts of home. For those with a sense of adventure and a love of outdoors, the UAE offers it all – wonderful beaches, mountain scenery, desert dunes – all within a short drive.

Dubai is a large city of more than three million people, and is geographically dispersed along the coast. The main areas of the city include Downtown -home to the world’s tallest building the Burj Khalifa, as well as the always-impressive Dubai Mall. This is considered to be the geographical centre of the city. To the north east is Deira, the traditional ‘old’ Dubai, where Dubai International Airport (DXB) is located. To the south west is Jumeirah, a popular residential area for expatriates. Here you’ll find The Palm, with its array of luxury hotels, and some of the city’s most pleasant beaches. On any given weekend you’ll find a huge number of activities taking place – there is something for everyone.

Dubai was the home to Expo 2020, placing it firmly on the global stage.
