At NLCS Dubai, we are committed to fostering a happy, caring, and purposeful learning environment that recognises the unique potential of every child. Our goal is to develop confident, independent learners who show consideration for others and the world around them.
Teaching & Support
In KG2 and Grade 1, children are taught primarily by their dedicated class teacher, who is supported by an allocated teaching assistant. In Grade 2, the class teacher remains the primary educator, supported by teaching assistants who are shared across the grade level.
This teaching model allows us to provide an ambitious academic education, underpinned with a robust pastoral programme that supports each individual.
Our curriculum is firmly rooted in the principles of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). We offer an exceptional enrichment programme designed to inspire students to be active and enthusiastic participants in a wide range of activities from an early age, supporting a broad and balanced education. Each student is encouraged to develop new skills, interests, and passions throughout the year, this is achieved through our extra-curricular activities programme as well as Homeroom lessons.
The Arts are a key feature of life at NLCS Dubai and the students have the opportunity to participate in various concerts and productions throughout the year, celebrating their developing talents. Learning is hands-on and experience-based, with much of the instruction driven by play and practical activities designed to spark curiosity, inquiry, and reflection. We deliver the PYP through various Units of Inquiry, which change every six to ten weeks. There is a strong emphasis on trans-disciplinary learning, encouraging students to make meaningful connections across subjects.
During their time in the Lower Junior School, students build foundational skills in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics alongside a broad curriculum that includes Science, History, Geography, Social Studies, Art and Design, ICT, Music, Drama, and Physical and Health Education. Arabic lessons continue with Islamic Studies formally introduced in Grade 1. Students from KG2 onwards are also introduced to a small amount of home learning to reinforce these core skills.
Holistic Development and Community
We believe in supporting the whole child. We offer an exceptional enrichment programme that inspires students to be active and enthusiastic participants in a wide range of activities from an early age.
Learning extends beyond the classroom. Field trips and learning outside of the classroom enable students to broaden their perspectives and foster a greater understanding of the local culture of the UAE. We also build a strong community through various all-school and grade-level events, including assemblies, performances, National Day, Tolerance and Diversity Day, and other themed celebrations.
We look forward to helping your child take those first steps along their learning journey. We encourage you to contact our Admissions team to find out more about joining the North London Collegiate School Dubai community.
