North London Collegiate School (NLCS) Dubai is delighted to announce the appointment of Jonathan Locke as the new Principal, effective September 2023, following the highly successful tenure of James Monaghan. This transition marks an exciting chapter for the school as it continues its commitment to providing exceptional education and fostering academic excellence.

Jon graduated from University of Cambridge with a PGCE in Mathematics and brings with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success. In his previous roles as Executive Principal at The British School of Barcelona and Headteacher at Leventhorpe School, he implemented strategic plans, achieved outstanding ratings, and led expansions and capital development. His recent tenure at The British School of Barcelona also saw examination results at record levels at both A level and GCSE and exceptional university destinations coupled with high levels of highest levels of student, parent and staff satisfaction. Jon’s award-winning accomplishments and background in various sports further enhance his credentials as an inspirational leader.

Jon has always been student focussed and collaborative in his leadership. He adopts a team-approach, and supports establishing vibrant school communities with equal attention to academic learning, pastoral care and wider-curricular endeavour. He places strong emphasis on the value of a holistic educational approach in order to develop responsible, caring and resilient young people.

Jon is joined by his wife Céline and daughter Juliette. Céline is an experienced French teacher and will be joining the NLCS languages Faculty. Juliette will be starting in NLCS Sixth Form and is particularly looking forward to playing netball in Dubai. Their son, Thomas, is also a keen Rugby player and is at the University of Bath studying a BSc in Management Studies.
