Hard work Equals Success

From the youngest Pre-KG student to our Grade 11 IB Diploma candidates, the thirst for knowledge and desire for understanding is clear to see in all. As an IB School, enquiry is at the heart of all we do and the hard work and dedication of all our students is to be commended. In the First School, our younger students have been focusing on all living things and how we, as responsible global citizens, can care for everything around us. Pre-KG were able to learn how to look after living things with visits from family pets, younger siblings and of course, the hands-on excitement of Posh Paws Petting Farm visiting us with many interesting animals.

KG1 have been channeling their inner scientists this half term, learning about buoyancy, density, combustion, insulation and recycling. They too have used practical learning to generate inspirational written outcomes. All of our First School students have also been reflecting on their learning, especially KG2 who have created a reflection wall to record what they have learnt and what they need to work on to gain further understanding.
Our Junior School students have also been working hard as they progress through their PYP Units. Our oldest Junior School students are busy preparing for the PYP Exhibition and we are all very excited to see the results of their hard work next term. Grade 3 have been embedding their scientific and literacy skills via their unit on tectonic hazards. Mr May was invited to speak to the grade about the different types of volcanoes and relate theory to real examples of recent major eruptions. The students have also been linking their experiments and geographical knowledge to their reading and creative writing, by choosing books that tell the story of historical tectonic events.

Staying with the geographical theme, Grade 4 have been looking at how exploration and travel affects not only those who experience new places, but also impacts the places which they visit. They have also invited speakers to share their travel stories, which has been a fascinating way to link real life with theory.
