As you will be aware, we maintain and foster very close links with our sister schools in the United Kingdom and South Korea. The theme of Founder’s Day 2019 at all NLCS Schools is internationalism, and we have certainly been demonstrating our commitment to being an outward-looking community. We started the half term with our own House Captains linking up with the House Captains at NLCS (UK). Their House system is also relatively new and the two groups wanted to get to know each other and learn from each other. The London girls were very keen to find out how, in such a short space of time, the NLCS Dubai Houses had become so strong and competitive. Many ideas were shared and we look forward to more collaboration in the future.
Towards the end of this term, the NLCS interschool debating championships commenced, with all three schools debating via the use of live link ups. It is incredible that now, with the use of technology, students’ minds can be challenged by their peers who are thousands of miles away. Sometimes, however, technology can give way to real-life experience. Three of our Grade 8 students have gone to experience life at NLCS (UK) as part of the exchange programme. They have been living with NLCS (UK) students and attending the School as a regular student. This of course is an amazing experience that they will be able to share with all their friends when they return.
