National Day

Monday December 23, 2019

National Day this year celebrated the 48th year of the United Arab Emirates and we, at NLCS, explored the amazing food, traditions, history and costume of the wonderful country that we now all call home.

Outside, students and teachers were met with a collection of falcons, all of whom were happy to take part in photo shoots and sit patiently in Budge Square. It was lovely to see one of our own Emirati students from Grade 8 bring in his own falcon this year.

The food was a triumph, from the sticky luqeymat, to the delicious local coffee, we were treated to a buffet of amazing dishes. Surrounding the food, children played carrom and congregated on the majlis to talk over the day. Others decorated pots or created artwork to celebrate the occasion. We are very fortunate to have parents who help us put on these special events.

Our celebrations culminated in forming the number 48 on the field; as our school grows, the numbers we form get larger every year. This has become one of our own NLCS Dubai National Day traditions and one that we hope will be repeated for many years to come.
