Getting out and about
The students at NLCS Dubai have enjoyed a number of trips so far this year, to support their classroom learning.
KG1 imaginations were awakened when the students visited Oli Oli, an interactive art gallery and museum, where they explored a variety of exhibitions that sparked their curiosity, stimulated their imaginations and provided many ‘whoa’ and ‘wow’ moments.
G1 took a Big Bus Tour of our inspiring city and they returned with many ‘Did you know..?’, ‘I never knew…’ and ‘Can you believe this…’ comments from their tour of Dubai. Such reactions reinforce just how important our trips outside of the classroom are for helping the students to make connections with their learning.
Grade 9, 10 and 11 Visual Art and Design students visited the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi to visit the main collection and temporary exhibition, “Japanese connections: The birth of Modern Décor”. The students enjoyed viewing the spectacular art and will create their own pieces based on their experience.

Grade 5 visited the Etihad Museum as part of their inquiry into how leadership influences the community. The children learned all about how the leaders of the UAE came together, made sacrifices and worked diligently to provide us with the fantastic country that we live in today. Students had an opportunity to learn through interactive exhibits and 3D movies.
On a different theme, but still relating to new experiences, four students and two teachers (Mr May and Miss Reeves) travelled to Fujairah over two weekends to complete their PADI Open Water qualification. Mr Jamir (who is a qualified rescue diver) also went along and all had great fun as they dived deeper than they had before! Congratulations to all and we look forward to many more dive trips in the future, as our scuba club expands each year.
Some of our musically talented students recently had the opportunity to perform at the ‘Best of Broadway’ event at the Madinat Jumeirah Theatre. Congratulations go to; Janna, Mayya, Nadya, Petra, Sarah, Harry, Joshua, Hannah, Tanisha and Shezha for their hard work in rehearsals and their performance on the night.
