This term, many of our Junior School students have been focussing on their creative writing skills. Grade 2 have been modelling how to use resources independently to improve writing, and recently finished composing their new myths and legends work; sentence structure and language choice was a focus, resulting in some top quality writing. Grade 3 have been working on their collaborative skills by writing a story book to celebrate and remember their first year of NLCS Dubai! The book is aptly named ‘Once upon a time, there was a golden jackal and a red fox…’ Each day, a different student takes home the class book and writes the next 100 words. A wonderful way of working together to create something creative and filled with memories. Grade 4 have also been busy creating poetry inspired by their class text, ‘The Journey’ by Francesca Sanna, and focussing on the way that they can write from different perspectives by using dramatic techniques to develop storylines, thought processes and structure to their writing. Grade 4 and Grade 5 French language students welcomed the opportunity to see the performance of ‘Little Red’. They prepared for the show in lessons by using key words from the fairytale ‘Le petit chaperon rouge’ to invent a modern version of the story. The performance itself was held in our own Performing Arts Centre and we welcomed many students from schools across Dubai.
